A proposal deigned to reduce the expense of administering this scheme was endorsed at Council this week to go out to public consultation. The concept is to extend the licences issues to 2 years thereby reducing our costs.

The proposal is to keep the parking fee at the same level and change the exemption fee to the same as the parking fee. This will reduce our costs but not increase the cost to those requiring these licences.

I believe this actually gives us an opportunity to drop the fee and not make a loss but let us see what the consultation brings.

A report is due back for consideration at the December Council meeting.
