Bringing Economic Prosperity to Unley was one of my 5 core undertakings at the last election. The first step to realising my promise has been achieved.
As I reported in my blog post of January 25, we have set up a Business & Economic Development Advisory Committee. Council has appointed six independent members to join Cr Steve Finos and me as members of the committee. They are as follows:
- Arman Abrahimzadeh
- Kym Della-Torre
- Alex Hammett
- Joshua McNally
- Nicole Sheehan
- Garry Goddard
This group will bring a balanced and diverse skill set and experience to the table. It is a group I am confident will take the focus away from the 4 main streets to assisting all Unley businesses to thrive. I am looking forward to the contribution they can make to the future prosperity of the City of Unley.
Establishing a Business and Economic Development Advisory Committee is a key initiative of the Council’s Economic Development Growth Strategy 2021-2025.
The Business and Economic Development Advisory Committee will provide specialist advice to Council. The Committee will have a strategic focus on issues and opportunities that will support our Strategy. They will also make recommendations to Council on how our funds should be spent that support economic development across the City of Unley.
This I believe is a key part of our strategy and will provide the best opportunity of bringing economic prosperity to the City of Unley and its community.
