With the construction of the structural components of the T2D, it is time for a T2D Urban Design Consultation. In Black Forest this means looking at three distinct precincts.
The Central Precinct is located in Black Forest/Glandore. It is the northern access/egress of the southern tunnel. We will therefore see a lot of bitumen. There is however an opportunity for greening the area.
Consultation has commenced on the Urban design. As this is a State Government project, they will be running the consultation. Should you have any feedback, therefore, direct it to them.
Most of the project in our area is centred on Glandore. The west side of the road network. There are pockets though on our (Black Forest) side of the new road.
The most significant of these is the Plaza area under the South Road tram stop. Already a plaza area, there is now an opportunity for you to influence whether it is enhanced, improved. The T2D project, when completed, will provide more opportunity now for this (plaza) to attract people to recreate ad relax.
There is also an opportunity to improve tree canopy along the at grade section of South Road, either side of Forrest Avenue. Perhaps there is an opportunity to extend this into Forrest Avenue, itself.
Both entry locations to the Black Forest Primary School are identified as areas for landscaping. That includes adjacent their café where the pedestrian bridge from Glandore will present. The main entry to the school can likewise be further enhanced.
You might encourage the department to consider doing even more in other adjacent areas.
The T2D Urban Design consultation has commenced. It concludes on 14 December.
The G0verment has scheduled several consultation sessions. The three probably most suited to residents of Black Forest and adjacent areas (the Central Precinct) will be at the Glandore Community Centre on November 24 between 6 & 8pm or on November 29 between 12 & 2pm. For other sessions refer to the T2D Website.
Before doing so you might like to check out the T2D Urban Design Consultation webpage interactive map.
