If you want to know the detail of the change in pensioner concessions announced by the State Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis.

The State Government has today announced a new Cost of Living Concession (CLC) of up to $200 will be paid directly to pensioners and low income earners by cheque.This CLC will replace the current Council rates concessions on Council rates notices.The Local Government Association wishes to thank Councils and members of the community in supporting the campaign for the continuation of concessions for pensioners.While the details of the new CLC have yet to be finalised it is understood that the new CLC will provide the following payments:

Pensioners and low-income earners who are tenants $0 (ineligible) $100 +$100
Self-funded retirees who hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card* who own their own home $100 $100 No change
Self-funded retirees who hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card who are tenants $0 (ineligible) $100 +$100

*Assumes recipients held a State Seniors Card

Please note that this concession will be way of a direct payment from the Government and not a rebate on your council rates.
