A clipping from this weeks Eastern Courier says it all.
STATE Swim pools in Norwood and
Unley will offer free weekly swimming
lessons to 40 disadvantaged children,
under a sponsorship program with The
Smith Family. Under the $200,000
program children aged five to 12 from
the Port Adelaide/Enfield area will be
given a weekly swimming lesson for the
next year, as well as goggles and a
swimming cap. State Swim managing
director Paul Mason said every child
should learn to swim regardless of a
family’s financial situation. The program
will be available to 220 children across
the state. For more information, visit

Of course our swimming centre has a history of helping those who have been disadvantaged with the Multiple Sclerosis Society holding an annual mega swim at the pool.
And in an effort to make access easier for those with disabilities the pool has been undergoing renovations including an access friendly admission/exit area and a lift to enable dignified access into the pool itself.
