Unley Council is conducting a lottery aimed at improving our tree canopy coverage. As many as 500 Tree Voucher Winners will reap the benefit.
This is one of the many initiatives in our recently developed tree strategy to encourage ratepayers to contribute to the answer. An initiative we are doing to coincide with the upcoming tree planting season.
Did you take the opportunity I promoted in my blog post of March 28 to check what tree canopy exists on your property? Similarly, were you concerned that you do not meet the targets we need to meet our goals? Further, are you concerned as to how you might rectify i
Here is a great opportunity to answer those questions positively. To encourage an increase in the tree canopy on private properties, we are conducting this lottery.
The lottery is available to all property owners. That is unless you work for Council or an elected member.
A lottery I encourage you to enter. A lottery with 500 tree voucher winners. As a result, you have around a 1 in 50 chance of winning. In other words, great odds.
Entering is easy. People will however need to identify their Rates Assessment Number (found on Council Rates Notice) to prove they are eligible.

You, as one of our property owners, can win of 500 vouchers. 125 will be randomly drawn every Thursday, with the assistance of one of our Justice of Peace volunteers, over four weeks from 28 April to 19 May 2022.
We will email the vouchers to the winners. If you are one of them, you will need to redeem your unique code voucher by 30 June 2022 at one of the two local garden centres:
At either Barrow and Bench Mitre 10 or The Conservatory.
You can use your voucher towards a native, ornamental or fruit tree which will grow to at least 3m tall at maturity.
What if you rent? why shouldnt you be able to enter if your landlord has no problems with you planting and maintaining? Surley this should be open to all that want to increase the canopy that you are expecting householders to commit to?
I would suggest, in such a circumstance, that the landlord would apply and you work together on tree selection and installation.
